Prajwal Gurung, PHD
Background: I was born and raised in Nepal and came to the United States in 2001 to pursue higher education. I received my PhD in 2011 from the University of Iowa under the mentorship of Dr. Thomas S. Griffith. Following my PhD, I did my postdoctoral fellowship at the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with Dr. Thirumala-Devi Kanneganti. I joined University of Iowa as an Assistant Professor in 2017. Apart from research, I love spending time with my family and train jiujitsu.
Matt Yorek, MS
Background: I am an Iowa City native. After graduating West High school I obtained an Associates Degree from a technical college in Wyoming followed by a Bachelors of Science (honors) and a Master's degree from the University of Iowa. I've worked in laboratories and performed research for around 10 years using animal models of schizophrenia, pain, traumatic brain injury, & diabetes. Aside from work I enjoy spending time with my wife and our daughter, being outdoors, walking our dog, biking, anything my daughter wants to do is great too, swimming, biking, playground, & ice skating.
Lalita Mazgaeen, MS
Background: I am from the Himalayan country Nepal. I came to United States in 2014 after earning my B.S. in Biotechnology from SANN International College (Purbanchal University, Nepal). I received my M.S. in Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. I joined the Human Toxicology Doctoral program at University of Iowa in Fall 2017. I joined the Gurung Lab in June 2018.
